Structural Builder Options

Our first big round of big choices for our builder options.  Toll Brothers offers a very helpful website to aid in customizing our home.  http://mytollhome.tollbrothersinc.com/

Toll Brothers Builder Options Design Center

This site outlines the options that are available for your particular model, and their prices.  It’s only available after you make a deposit.

They are broken down into major categories:

  • Structural Options
  • Windows & Doors
  • Interior Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Electrical
  • Fireplace
  • Appliances
  • Cabinetry
  • Backsplashes
  • Countertops
  • Interior Finishes
  • Exterior
  • Flooring and Wall Tile

We have decided to move forward with the 2nd floor, the extended garage, the enlarged family room and the sunroom extension to the kitchen dining area.  We are also moving a window, replacing the half wall surrounding the stairs on the second floor.  And, we’re looking to substitute a fireplace of our choosing rather than using a standard builder choice.

The meeting was productive but we need to do a little more research on the fireplace choice.

Toll Brothers has a series of dates for the swarm of meetings where our builder options decisions are set.  Our home isn’t projected to be completed for 10 months or more, but the pace of the meetings is on a timeline independent of the home completion.  In one sense, the pace is probably good for us – no time to agonize over these decisions.  Of course, the downside could be that in the rush to make a decision, you may overlook something in the process.

We have visits planned to a couple fireplace stores to check them out.

We’re also planning a visit to Toll Brothers Regency at Monroe to look at the model homes.  Monroe has a Merrimack model which is the big brother of our model, the Merrick.  The Merrimack has a full 2nd floor where the Merrick is only one floor with an optional  2nd floor with a loft/bedroom.  And, their models are truly stunningly decorated.
